Following on from @deputymitchell’s World’s biggest blog on February 29th the children in my adopted class were itching to blog. They had never tried this before and were extremely excited. They struggled with the concept of people on the Internet reading their work but we carried on hoping that all would become clear.
We created our google blog and set to work. The results were amazing! For mainstream teachers these attempts may not look amazing at all. However, these are children who have never been able to sequence their names previously. They use clicker grids attached to head switches, hand or foot switches. These children attain at levels P1 to P3.
Robert’s work, although only 6 letters in total took him 20 minutes of pure concentration. Clicker was set to scan and he listened to the letters and moved his head to select the correct letter. The look of pure joy on his face when he saw his name on the interactive whiteboard was a sight to behold.
